The Dance Factory School of Performing Arts began in Redondo Beach the fall of 1989 as the South Bay Sunray Stars. After 4 years of renting 5 locations by the hour, we moved to our own studio in Lomita. With great parent support and donations of various office supplies, $10,000.00 in lighting improvements and multiple, voluntary cash advances on lessons, we opened The Dance Factory School of Performing Arts with barely enough income to cover the monthly lease payments. We had an unexpected fire that destroyed our wonderful studio just before Christmas 2003. After sharing temporary facilities for almost 4 years WE HAVE MOVED to our beautiful new home in Rancho Palos Verdes. Our students continue to thrive and many have gone on to college to continue their dance education and several talent agents presently represent many TDF students.
